Grow a Garden Mutations List — All Multipliers
You are mid-trade and someone mentions Dawnbound. You have never seen it before, you do not know the multiplier, and you have five seconds to decide whether their offer makes sense. I have been in that position more times than I want to admit — and every time it cost me Sheckles I did not have to lose. This page is the reference I built for myself and now keep open during every trading session. Every Grow a Garden mutation listed here has its exact multiplier, tier, and source. Use the Grow a Garden Mutation Calculator to get the exact Sheckle value of any mutation on your specific crop before any trade.
This guide covers every mutation in Grow a Garden — S-tier, A-tier, B-tier, C-tier, temperature mutations, and growth mutations — with exact multipliers and sources.
How the Mutation Formula Works
Before the list, one thing needs to be clear — mutations in Grow a Garden do not multiply each other. They add together inside the formula. If your crop has Shocked ×100 and Celestial ×120, the combined mutation value is ×220 — not ×12,000. Every calculator that shows multiplicative results is wrong and every trade built on that number is wrong.
The verified formula is: Final Value = Base Value × Weight² × Growth Multiplier × Combined Mutation Total. Regular mutations stack additively. Growth mutations — Rainbow, Diamond, Gold, Silver — multiply the entire result on a separate track above everything else. Temperature mutations — Frozen, Drenched, Wet, Chilled — add into the regular mutation total on their own calculation path. Use the Mutation Calculator to see every step of this formula broken down for your specific crop before trusting any number someone quotes you in a trade.
S-Tier Mutations — Highest Multipliers
The Top S-Tier Mutations
Goldsparkle is the highest crop mutation multiplier achievable in standard gameplay at ×500. It comes from the Goldfinch pet with a low activation probability — the only non-admin source. On any Legendary or Divine crop at good weight, a single Goldsparkle application produces a result most players will never see from any other mutation combination. Astral comes next at ×365 and requires the full Celestial plus Aurora to Cosmic plus Galactic chain — a minimum of three separate weather events on the same unharvested crop.
Stormbound at ×270 and Cosmic at ×240 are both combined mutations — Stormbound forms from Shocked combined with a secondary storm mutation while Cosmic forms from Celestial plus Aurora. Every S-tier mutation requires either a rare pet, a specific chain of weather events, or an admin event to obtain — none appear from a single standard weather trigger.
A-Tier Mutations — High Value, Farmable
Weather-Based A-Tier Mutations
Shocked ×100 from Thunderstorm and Jandel Storm. Celestial ×120 from Meteor Shower. Aurora ×90 from Aurora Borealis weather. Galactic ×120 from its own weather event. These four cover the highest-volume A-tier mutations that most active players encounter regularly in populated servers. Full guides on getting Shocked and Celestial are in our Shocked Mutation Guide and Celestial Mutation Guide.
Dawnbound sits at ×150 — the highest single-event mutation in the game — but applies exclusively to Sunflower crops during Sun God events. Most A-tier mutations require specific event weather or rare pet activations rather than standard Thunderstorm or Rain conditions.
B-Tier Mutations — Solid Mid-Range
B-tier mutations at ×30 to ×50 add real value to any crop but their impact depends entirely on what else is in the stack. A B-tier mutation as the only mutation on a crop produces moderate results. A B-tier mutation added to an A-tier crop already carrying Shocked ×100 adds ×30 to ×50 on top of ×100 in the additive formula — the incremental gain is real but smaller in percentage terms than the A-tier lead mutation. Stack calculation matters more than individual tier when evaluating B-tier contributions. Use the main calculator to see exactly what any B-tier mutation adds to your existing stack.
C-Tier Mutations — Low Multipliers
C-tier mutations contribute minimally to any crop already carrying A or B-tier mutations. A Shocked ×100 crop with Cute ×10 added gives ×110 combined — the Cute added 10 percent to the base but the Shocked already did the heavy lifting. Do not let a seller talk up C-tier mutations as significant additions to a strong crop. Verify the actual additive contribution at the mutation calculator and use that number, not the tier label, to evaluate any offer.
Temperature Mutations — Separate Calculation Path
Temperature mutations sit outside the regular mutation stack and apply on their own calculation path inside the formula. Frozen ×10 forms when Wet and Chilled are both active on the same crop simultaneously — it incorporates and replaces both, so you cannot have Frozen plus Wet plus Chilled all at once. Drenched ×5 replaces Wet during Tropical Rain events and cannot coexist with Wet on the same crop since both come from mutually exclusive weather states. Wet ×2 applies during standard Rain or Thunderstorm. Chilled ×2 comes from Frost weather or a Polar Bear pet active in your garden.
The most important thing to understand about temperature mutations is that they are not regular mutations even though they add to the combined value. They apply on their own path and can stack on top of your regular mutation total without competing with it. A crop with Shocked ×100 and Frozen ×10 has a combined value of ×110 from those two — Frozen adds its full ×10 on top of everything in the regular stack. Use the main calculator rather than the mutation calculator for temperature + regular mutation combinations since the main tool handles both paths simultaneously.
Growth Mutations — Separate from Everything
Growth mutations apply on a completely separate calculation track above the entire regular mutation result. Rainbow ×50, Diamond ×50, Gold ×20, Silver ×5 — only one can exist per crop at any time. They multiply the full post-mutation result, not just the base value. This is why Rainbow ×50 on a heavy Legendary crop with Shocked already applied produces a result far larger than Shocked ×100 alone on the same crop — Rainbow multiplies the entire already-boosted number by 50 on its own track. Full details on getting Gold in our Gold mutation guide. For Rainbow, the Butterfly pet applies it to any crop with five or more mutations active. My Hands-On Experience With S-Tier
The first S-tier mutation I got was Stormcharged on a Sunflower at age 8 kg during a session where I was farming the Shocked-to-Stormcharged chain. I had set up the garden specifically for that chain — cleared competing crops, deactivated Raiju until Shocked was confirmed, then reactivated to begin the Blitzshock conversion. When Stormcharged appeared on the Sunflower I ran it through the mutation calculator immediately. The result was the largest single-crop value I had ever produced and it came from understanding the chain before I farmed it, not from luck. Every S-tier mutation has a path — the mutations list tells you what it is, the Trade Calculator helps evaluate whether pursuing a specific S-tier mutation on your current crop is worth the farming time compared to your other active options.
Frequently Asked Questions
Know the Number Before the Trade
Every mutation in Grow a Garden has a number and every number is calculable before any trade conversation starts. The players who know these multipliers before entering a negotiation consistently come out ahead of the ones learning them during it. Keep this list open during trading sessions and verify every claimed mutation value at the mutation calculator before responding to any offer.
